Pictures: Incredible scenes in city centre as Manchester Pride festival gets into full swing

Canal Street has officially turned into one long throng of dancing people.

As Manchester Pride festival heads into its second evening, the party has well and truly warmed up and thousands are dancing and singing in the streets.

The rainbow flags are hung overhead, there's colourful glitter on faces everywhere, and music pouring out of the bars along Canal Street.

We've seen dogs aplenty and even a cat being carried through the crowds, we've seen families, we've seen drag, we've seen couples and friends and a whole lot of love.

Over at MCR Pride Live on First Street, one of the headliners may have dropped out at the last minute, but there's still loads to come from Sigala, Annie Mac, Katy B and Yungblud.

We're not even halfway through the annual Manchester Pride celebrations either.

Tomorrow will see Zara Larsson and Sophie Ellis-Bextor hit the main stage, with the Gay Village Party continuing at full speed through to Monday.

The festival will culminate in the traditional Candlelit Vigil on Monday night, a chance to reflect back on those whose lives have been lost to HIV and AIDS.
