Pictures from the scene following frantic emergency search of the River Clyde

A police rescue mission launched early this morning amid reports of a person in the River Clyde.

Emergency services scrambled to the scene close to Riverboat Casino after the alarm was raised at around 4am.

Lifeboats were seen trawling the water as police and paramedics waited at the scene.

Search crews scoured the Clyde in vain for over two hours but no one was found in the search

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "Fire crews attended the scene at around 4am to assist in the search.

"Emergency services attended and searched the area but no one was rescued."
