Pictures from above show phallic-shaped pattern mowed into field

Satellite images have shown a rude pattern in the shape of a phallic symbol - which appears to have been mowed into a meadow. The large penis shape can be seen from space via the satellites used to create Bing Maps over Swindon, Wiltshire.

The shape appears on a field behind a row of houses on Marlborough Road in Wroughton stretching out longer than a nearby path. According to the size and scale measurements on the map, the marking is 80 metres long and 20 metres across at its widest point.

While scrolling around maps of the area one astonished local from Swindon saw the phallic design "poking out" at him. Google Maps shows an updated aerial view of the area with no phallic imagery in sight.

But Bing's version still has the old rural landscape capturing the image. It is not a satellite image, but most likely shot from an aerial mapping plane.

Bing, Apple and Google do use satellite images for their maps but most still come from fixed wing planes.
