Pictured: Woman found dead at home in Lewisham after 'welfare check' as man charged with murder

A woman found dead at a property in Lewisham has been named by police as 47-year-old Barbara McCann.

Officers responding to a welfare concern were called to an address on Catford Hill at 11.35am on Tuesday, June 9.

Police found Barbara at the scene, where she was sadly pronounced dead.

Her family are being supported by specialist officers.

In the days following her death, enquiries led police to Hillingdon in west London, where 32-year-old Derek Bradshaw was arrested on suspicion of murder.

He has since been charged and will appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court today.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Franklin, leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts remain with Barbara’s family at this unimaginably difficult time.

“If you have any information about Barbara’s death, no matter how small, please assist our investigation by contacting us as a matter of urgency.”
