Pictured - Pontus Jansson shows off black eye before batting off Mateusz Klich banter

Pontus Jansson was left bruised and battered as he put his body on the line during Leeds United's win over Preston - but handled a jibe from one of his team-mates with good grace.

The Swede clashed head with Liliywhites forward Lukas Nmecha in the last five minutes of a 2-0 win for Marcelo Bielsa's side with a huge bruise immediately coming up just over the Swede's right eye.

Jansson would dust himself down and see out the final minutes of the match, as the visitors held onto a 2-0 win following Patrick Bamford's second half brace.

That was enough to see Leeds move back into second place ahead of Sheffield United's trip to Birmingham City on Wednesday evening.

And that was enough to ensure that Jansson was all smiles, despite the nasty looking injury.

The official Leeds United Twitter account posted a photo of Jansson in the dressing room after the match with the 28-year-old smiling, despite his left eye being completely swollen shut.

'When you put your body on the line for the win #SideBeforeSelf', the club posted.

Jansson's team-mate Mateusz Klich was quick to chip in on the replies.

'I wish Pontus could see this tweet,' he posted only for Jansson to reply with a selfie from the team bus, still with only one eye open, captioned with a series of eye emojis.

Leeds will be hoping that the swelling quickly subsides and Jansson will be fully fit for Saturday's Yorkshire derby against Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road.
