Pictured: Locals slam 'disgusting' litter strewn across Portmarnock Beach

Residents were left outraged after empty cans and coffee cups were found dumped on Portmarnock Beach this afternoon.

Images shared by a local show rubbish bins being stuffed to the brim and a disgusting amount of litter scattered across the beachside.

One angry resident said: “The litter is absolutely disgusting. F******g feral scrotes everywhere.”

Another video shows a packed carpark as hundreds of holidaymakers turned up to the Portmarnock Beach to enjoy the good weather despite the 5km limit still in place.

Just yesterday we reported the Fingal County Council's warning to people to respect public health guidelines with Gardai agreeing to increase patrols across Dublin this weekend.

The dramatic rise in littering and dumping was branded as “alarming” by the Council.

Mayor of Fingal, Councillor Eoghan O’Brien said: “I would appeal to people to remember we are still in the middle of a pandemic and that public health guidelines in relation to social distancing and travel are still in place.

"Those guidelines must be respected, even on a Bank Holiday weekend with nice weather, because lives are at stake."
