Pictured: Face of drug dealer from The Meadows caught with cocaine and heroin

A prolific offender has been put behind bars after officers caught him "red-handed" dealing drugs.

Stephen Brecknock, of Wilford Crescent East in The Meadows, appeared at Nottingham crown Court on April 2.

After failing to heed the warning of an earlier suspended sentence, he was given three years jail time, plus 12 weeks for other offences.

Officers said last month, during an Operation Relentless patrol on March 3 they spotted a man acting suspiciously in an alleyway.

The plain-clothed officers in an unmarked car had seen Brecknock dealing drugs near Meadow Lane.

The officers stopped him on and found him to be in possession of a quantity of heroin and 51 wraps of cocaine.

He also had a quantity of cash and mobile phones.

Brecknock was arrested, interviewed, charged and remanded for possession with intent to supply Class A Drugs (crack cocaine and heroin).

He was also strip searched at Bridewell Custody Suite and further drugs was found in his underwear.

His house was searched and further drugs and dealer lists were seized.

It comes despite the 35-year-old being given a suspended sentence, compensation order and drug rehabilitation order earlier this year.

Brecknock received the penalties after stealing seven pedal bikes in West Bridgford in August and September of 2019, for possession of Class A drugs and failing to attend court hearings.

City Centre Inspector Paul Gummer said: “I’d like to congratulate the officers who spotted Brecknock whilst out on their Operation Relentless patrol as well as Nottinghamshire Police Drugs Experts who provided expert evidence in the case.

“The operation continues to be a success and its main aim is to tackle drug dealing and anti-social behaviour in the city centre.

"The officers caught Brecknock red-handed and we are pleased that he is now behind bars.

“The team was set up to tackle the wide variety of issues in the city centre regarding anti-social behaviour, drug use and dealing and general crime, so it’s another success story for the Operation.”
