Pictured: Elderly man, 87, dies after robbery and assault outside Post Office branch in north London

An elderly man has died after being robbed outside a Post Office in north London.

Police were called to reports of a robbery and assault on High Street, Ponders End, Enfield, just after 11am on October 30.

Officers attended and found a man, named as Jalal Khan, 76, with head injuries.

He was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service in a life-threatening condition.

He sadly died in hospital on Wednesday, November 19. His family are being supported by specialist officers.

Jaesis Boatswain, 40 of Swan Walk, Enfield, was charged with grievous bodily harm, assault, robbery and threatening a person with a knife.

He appeared at Highbury Magistrates' Court on Thursday, November 6 where he was remanded into custody.

His next court appearance will be at Wood Green Crown Court on Wednesday, December 10.
