Picture This: East Kilbride photographer gets spooky in latest instalment

It’s that time of year again – the annual Bothwell Scarecrow festival.

Although sadly this year due to the current situation we are in there will be no Parade or Fun Day.

Event organisers have encouraged residents to still participate in displaying their Scarecrows in an effort to lift spirits and give just a sense of normality.

Recently I took a drive along to Bothwell to have a look around. It is a lovely place to enjoy a walk, especially if the sun is shining.

A mixture of luxury gated estates, slightly less extravagant housing, beautiful green space and a high street that just oozes a real sense of community.

With outdoor seating at the cafes and bars to the local church, hotel, pubs and shops all in the one small area. When I visited I didn’t see as many of the Scarecrows as I was expecting and normally see each year.

Although I must have been early or even just missed quite a few, as a quick look at their facebook page suggests.

However here are a few of the photos I took that day.
