Picture shows thick clouds of toxic smoke as Dublin firefighters tackle car blaze

This picture shows thick clouds of toxic gases rising up in the air as Dublin firefighters tackled a car fire.

The brave Phibsborough team rushed to North Circular road to fight the blaze earlier this afternoon.

The dangerous flames created harmful black smoke and firefighters had to put on special breathing apparatus to protect themselves.

A spokesperson from Dublin Fire Brigade reported the incident.

They said on Twitter: “Phibsborough firefighters at a vehicle fire this afternoon off the North Circular Road.

“Car fires produce large amounts of black noxious smoke which on a clear day will lead to multiple 999 calls.

“Firefighters ear breathing apparatus to protect them from the gases.”

A spokesperson for Dublin City Council said: "At 1530 hrs today firefighters from Phibsborough fire station were mobilised to a vehicle fire after multiple "999" calls to the Eastern Regional Control Centre.

"One unit responded to the fire which was located in O'Devaney Gardens off the North Circular Road.

"No injuries were reported and the incident was concluded by 1610 hrs."
