Picture shows Peter Kay on rare day out after Channel 5 row

Peter Kay has been spotted enjoying a rare day out after breaking his social media silence.

The comedian took to Twitter, claiming a  Channel 5 documentary airing about his life was “misleading”.

Following his social media post, he was spotted at Nativity! The Musical in London - the first time he has been seen out in eight months.

Debbie Isitt, who directs the show, shared a picture on social media of herself with the comedian.

She wrote: "So lovely to see the brilliant comic genius Peter Kay and his lovely family @nativityuk tonight for our final show! What a lovely surprise for us all!"

Last night, ' Peter Kay Comedy Genius:  In His Own Words' was shown at 9pm yesterday (December 29) on Channel 5.

The two-hour-long documentary was billed as: "A celebration of the life and career of the comedian, featuring interviews with the man himself as well as friends and colleagues Pete Waterman, Jenny Powell and Bobby Davro."

But  Peter posted a statement   to Twitter saying he had nothing to do with the documentary.

His tweet reads: "Very flattering of Channel 5 to commission the programme going out tonight, but just to let people known that 'Peter Kay: In His Own Words' has an incredibly misleading title, as it doesn't feature any new interviews with Peter and all the footage is completely historic.

"The title also gives the impression that Peter has been involved in the making of this documentary, which he hasn't. At all."
