Picture shows large police presence in Nottingham City centre

A picture showing a large police presence on a busy Nottingham city centre road has emerged.

Four police vehicles and a number of officers can be seen outside of the Coach and Horses pub in Upper Parliament Street, at around 1.30pm on the afternoon of Sunday, January 2.

A witness spotted the police cars and vans parked at the busy road opposite the Victoria Centre.

This police presence comes after a series of unrelated incident on both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

An onlooker, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: "All I saw were several police officers."

He added: "There were also officers in pairs all the way down the street."

Nottinghamshire Police said officers were there as part of a football policing operation for the Notts County v Wrexham game.

A spokesperson added: "Officers escorted a number of Wrexham fans to the ground ahead of the match. There were no offences or arrests. It was part of the standard policing operation for football matches to ensure fans can have a safe and enjoyable day out."
