Picture Scotland: stunning shot shows dog enjoying sunrise on first day of spring

You'd be barking mad not to love this week's Picture Scotland winner.

Amateur snapper James Williamson captured his dog Isla enjoying the sunrise on the first day of spring on their morning walk in the hills above Bathgate, West Lothian.

The photo really captures the added joys our canine chums have provided during lockdown, offering an excuse to get outside and enjoy what the scenery has to offer.

Also enjoying Scotland’s natural world was Frances Waite who gave us a burst of springtime with her glorious daffies overlooking St John’s Church in Ballachulish with the Pap of Glencoe in the background.

And Jordan Graham captured a flying kingfisher on the Clyde river. Given how fast they beat their wings, his photo is fantastic.

Lauren Foster named her photo 'Sunkissed skies' after it showed a colourful sunrise captured within Craigtoun Country park in St Andrews.

Rodney Hutchinson's photo showed off the Ayrshire countryside on a misty morning, as the day was dawning near the village of Dalrymple.
