Picture Scotland: Stunning photo of tender moment between Highland cows sees second winner of our photo comp named

We all need some reassurance at the moment – even our iconic animals.

Capturing a heart-warmingly tender moment between a young Highland cow and his mum saw Gordon Doherty take home the prize in week two of our exciting photo comp.

Other top pictures in last week's competition saw Jared Mackay snap a stag in Glencoe and Daryl Smith capture a short-eared owl in Perthshire as it checked him out.

It wasn't just wildlife wowing our judges last week, our glorious scenery has also been captured by eagle-eyed photographers.

Nuno Ramos spotted this low-level cloud like a jet stream reflected off a loch on his way to Inverness, while clouds also formed the backdrop of Raymond Watson’s photo of Turnberry Lighthouse.

Meanwhile, John Lang took a wee pic that made the jetty at Port Glasgow look romantic.

Readers also got a little arty this week, with Andy Sommerville capturing a film noir-style photo of a puddle at night in Glasgow city centre.

Liz Connell Barbour went for a captivating black and white in her snap at South Queensferry.

Congratulations to all who entered and hopefully these photos will inspire you to try for next week’s £100 prize.

We are again on the look out for photos showing Scotland in all her glory and they can be epic or funny and be of scenery, animals or a Braveheart you know.
