It makes sense that the best way to entice a
Scottish stag to pose for a wee photo would be porridge oats.
And that is exactly what this week’s Picture Scotland winner Aaron Gibson used to capture this stunning pic of a young stag in Glen Etive.
Aaron said: “I had some porridge oats with me and lured the stag on to the mound with the vast landscape behind it.”

This week’s runners-up all have fantastic atmosphere.
Kevin Frew’s horse and rider in Mugdock Country Park looks like something out of Game of Thrones, as does the sunset photo of golfers at Crieff Golf Course, taken by Alister Reid.

Steven McCarron’s shot of Slains Castle took him five years to get the perfect cloudless night and then eight hours and 450 shots to capture the star trails, he said: "I always wanted to capture this image but with the typical north east of Scotland weather I needed to wait a lengthy five years to get the perfect cloudless night, for the eight hours to get the 450 plus shots I needed to be combined to form the star trail around the castle, with the North Star, Polaris, as the centre point for all the other stars to rotate around."

Scotland’s beauty is there for all to see in Raymond Watson’s snow-kissed photo of Arran and Richard Kosak’s swelling sea at Ballantrae, South Ayrshire.
And it’s not just landscapes. Jim Johnstone’s photo of a kingfisher taken near Kirkcudbright would have been hard to get.

Derek Gillan’s mother squirrel was taken in his front garden in Glasgow.
