Picture of man wanted by cops over Greenock attack is released by police

Police have released a photograph of a man wanted in connection with a serious assault in Inverclyde.

The attack kicked off just after 2.30am on New Year's Day 2021 in the Greenock area.

On Friday officers probing the assault shared a photograph of Kieran Murphy.

The 27-year-old is local to the area.

Police are urging anyone who knows of Kieran's whereabouts, or who can help in any way with their investigation to come forward.

Officers stressed that information can be passed on anonymously.

A spokesperson from Renfrewshire and Inverclyde Police Division said: "Police have released an image of a man wanted in connection with a serious assault that occurred about 2.35am Friday, January 1, 2021, in the Greenock area.

"He is named as Kieran Murphy, aged 27, of the Inverclyde area.

"Anyone able to assist in establishing his whereabouts or know of anyone who would be able to assist is asked to contact Greenock Police Office via 101.

"Or contact CRIMESTOPPERS 0800 555 111, where information can be given in confidence."
