An image of a cow tied down with rope to a trailer and being towed along the Pacific Highway have led NSW Police to a property where they charged a 67-year-old man with a raft of animal cruelty charges.
The photos were taken by a passerby near Clybucca, just north of Port Macquarie, last month.
They were then reported to police.
An investigation led police to an Aldavilla farm where officers found two dead cows inside a machinery shed and two other cows in poor condition.
The cow that had been tied down in the trailer was found dead, along with a deceased calf from the cow.
A 67-year-old man was charged with multiple offences under the prevention of cruelty to animals act.
According to police, the cow and calf were transported on sealed and unsealed roads for about one hour. The calf died prior to transporting.
The RSPCA were notified and the two remaining cows were euthanised on site.
The man will appear in the Kempsey Local Court on July 16.
