Pick your Newcastle United starting XI for Liverpool clash as Magpies hunt five wins in a row

The Newcastle United team is really starting to pick itself for Eddie Howe but he still has decisions to make for the visit of Liverpool. He will be desperate to see his side disrupt the Reds’ title - and quadruple – charge in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Despite winning each of their last four Premier League games, there have been a few changes to the team in recent weeks. Howe opted to make four alterations from the 1-0 win against Crystal Palace and they paid dividends as the Magpies comfortably beat bottom club Norwich 3-0.

This weekend’s clash poses a very different challenge for United as one of Europe’s truly elite teams are the visitors to St James’ Park. Howe might be tempted to opt for a more defensive set up with the knowledge of how dangerous Liverpool’s attacking assets can be.

However, the United boss did admit in his pre-match press conference that his side will try to impose their own style on Klopp’s players: "I think we can attack the game with no fear, play our game and try and impose that onto Liverpool.

“That's what we will try to do to the best of our ability. We're in a good frame of mind."

Whilst Howe will be dealing with a selection headache or two ahead of announcing his starting XI on Saturday morning, we are asking for you to select the team you think gives United the greatest chance of victory. Whether that’s bringing another centre-back into the backline to make it a back five or trying to fight fire with fire with more attackers, we want to see which team you would select.

Use the widget above to pick your formation and the players you would include from the start against Liverpool. Feel free to also discuss your selections and your thought processes with fellow Magpies fans in the comments section beneath this article.
