Towards the end of every week, we look at some of the most exciting events taking place around Dublin and beyond for the weekend ahead. There's something for everyone here!

FOOD

Smithfield & Stoneybatter Food Festival at various venues (Friday to Sunday)

Dublin 7 will come alive with the sights, smells and tastes of some fabulous food this weekend. The highlight will be on Sunday, when Smithfield Square will be completely taken over by a food fair.

SWIMMING

Dún Laoghaire Harbour Race (Sunday)

For serious open-water swimmers, there are two main events in the calendar – the Liffey Swim and the Dún Laoghaire Harbour Race. If you don’t fancy braving the chilly waters yourself, then come dow and show your support.

FAMILY

Busker Fleadh at Smithfield Square (Sunday)

Aside from  the food festival, here’s another reason to visit Smithfield Square this Sunday. The best huskers from around the country will be entertaining the crowds, and kids will be delighted by the street performers and craic.

COMEDY

Foil, Arms and Hog (Facebook)

Foil, Arms & Hog at Vicar Street (Friday to Sunday 22nd September)

The live sketch trio are a YouTube hit with 100 million views and counting but live on stage is where it really matters. They’re back with new show Swines – and they’re even doing an all-ages version on Saturday afternoon.

Our Planet – Powered By The Sun at Merrion Square (Friday)

David Attenborough’s new documentary series takes a global look at our world, from Arctic wilderness and deep oceans, to the African plains and South American jungles. This free city centre screening will be solar-powered, with a ‘leave no trace’ policy for attendees.

Fuinneamh at Bellurgan Park, Dundalk (Saturday & Sunday)

The Irish word for energy, Fuinneamh, is an apt title for a dance music festival that boasts a stellar line-up of DJs as well as an area focusing on yoga, meditation, mindfulness and generally chilling out. Midland and Leon Vynehall top the bill.

Thinking about a self-build, an extension or just a bit of DIY? You’ll find inspiration, encouragement and the answers to all of your questions at this major expo.

The golden boys of Irish hip-hop are moving up in the world, with their biggest hometown show yet ahead of a major UK and European tour.
