It's another jam-packed weekend of fun, activities and entertainment in Dublin. We've picked out nine of the best as usual - surely there's something for everyone here...

MUSICAL

Priscilla Queen of the Desert at BGE Theatre (until Saturday)

The hit Broadway and West End show is based on the 1994 camp classic, which followed two drag queens and a trans woman on a road trip across Australia. The musical version stars Strictly Come Dancing winner Joe McFadden (Holby City, Casualty, Heartbeat).

THEATRE

Eclipsed at dlr Mill Theatre (until Saturday)

First published in 1994, Patricia Burke Brogan’s Eclipsed was one of the first plays to tell the horrifying story of the Magdelene Laundries. Following the plight of four women, the play is funny, moving and sad – but not without hope.

Dublin Chinese New Year Festival 2020 (dublinchinesenewyear.com)

Chinese New Year Festival at various locations (until Monday 10th)

This weekend is your last chance to join in the fun at the Chinese New Year Festival. Check out the family concert Our China Town or the puppet-making workshop on Saturday, or take part in Sunday’s Taste Of China food tour. Delicious!

Algiers at Whelan’s (Saturday)

Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia and with a fiery line in soulful punk rock, Algiers are one of the hottest live bands on the circuit. This promises to be a sweaty, cathartic show.

CLUB

re:ni at Kaizen Bar (Saturday)

The opening night of Woozy, a new club night dedicated to dub-heavy sounds and UK soundsystem culture, looks like a special one. Headlining is London DJ and NTS radio presenter re:ni with support from Woozy founder EMA – gun fingers at the ready.

The men’s Six Nations clash between Ireland and Wales at the Aviva on Saturday is a sell-out, so how about heading to Donnybrook on Sunday to support the women’s team? Ticket prices are very reasonable, with a family ticket (two adults and two children) just €25.
