Piccadilly Gardens pizzeria Franco Manca to open second restaurant in Manchester

One of London's most popular pizza brands is planning to open its second Manchester restaurant.

Franco Manca has submitted plans to the council to take over a vacant site on King Street.

If approved, it will see the restaurant's second opening in as many years in the city centre.

Franco Manca opened its first site here in 2019, choosing to take over an old bank at Piccadilly Gardens despite well-documented crime and anti-social behaviour in the area.

The business, founded at Brixton Market in 2008, now has more than 40 restaurants across the UK.

It's famed for its affordable sourdough Neapolitan pizzas, with prices starting from just £5.55 and never topping £10.

The proposed new location will be in the ground floor of the former Boots retail site on King Street, right in the heart of the city centre.

It will neighbour renowned local restaurants El Gato Negro and Tast on the street.

Fulham Shore, the company that owns Franco Manca, has identified 150 sites for potential new restaurants, including 10 in the pipeline for this financial year.
