Piccadilly Circus has gone full sci-fi. Disney Studios transformed the heart of London into the neon, pulse-pounding world of Tron: Ares, staging the first-ever rooftop red carpet above the landmark’s famous lights.

Above the crowd, Jared Leto unveiled exclusive 3D Tron: Ares content on the giant screens, joined by director Joachim Rønning and cast members Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Evan Peters, and Gillian Anderson.

Fans gathered below, smartphones raised, to watch the spectacle unfold. Guests arriving for the UK Sneak Peek screening were plunged straight into the film’s digital frontier.

LED-lit corridors shifted and shimmered, a Nine Inch Nails soundtrack throbbed through the space, and an iconic Lightcycle waited for photo ops - making it clear that this wasn’t a standard movie premiere.

Press and content creators were treated to exclusive preview footage, personally introduced by the cast, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at the latest chapter of the Tron saga.

The TRON: Ares Immersive Experience opens to the public today, Thursday 2 October, with free tickets available exclusively via Eventbrite.

Disney Studios and Landsec collaborated on the event, turning the Piccadilly Lights into a 10-minute on-screen takeover featuring partners Coca-Cola, Samsung, Ducati, and IMAX.

The film itself, out in UK cinemas on October 10, follows a sophisticated Program named Ares, sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.

The cast includes Leto, Lee, Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, Gillian Anderson, and Jeff Bridges.

Grammy-winning Nine Inch Nails composed the score, releasing the first single “As Alive As You Need Me To Be” alongside the trailer.

For Londoners, this isn’t just a film preview - it’s a rare chance to see the city’s most famous screens and skyline reimagined as a futuristic playground, complete with its own red-carpet high above the traffic.

Tron: Ares is filmed for IMAX and promises a spectacle that starts with the story and continues into the streets of the capital itself.
