Picardy Place: Disruption possible as new road layout is put in place at top of Leith Walk

A new road layout has been put in place at the Picardy Place roundabout at the top of Leith Walk, as work continues on the St James shopping centre project.

From Sunday, traffic heading north will be transferred onto a new carriageway and a new permanent pedestrian crossing will be in place.

The changes could lead to delays for drivers and cyclists using the busy roundabout, especially as the changes are put in place.

Edinburgh council said a new set of temporary lights would also be at the roundabout until September.

The council's roadworks notice says: "New traffic layout as part of St James' project and Picardy area redesign.

"All northbound traffic from York Place will transfer to new carriageway on Picardy Place with temporary traffic lights at Picardy Place / Leith Walk until late September.

"Temporary pedestrian crossing at Greenside Lane removed, new permanent crossing operational."
