Pi-stons? Detroit Pistons are roasted for Pi Day jersey

It’s a very happy Pi Day to the world, except maybe the Detroit Pistons.

In case you aren’t aware, we’re writing this post on March 14th, or 3/14. And 3.14 are the first three digits of Pi, the number representing “the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter” (yeah, I had to look it up, it’s been a while since I used it in a math problem. Thanks Merriam Webster!). So it’s Pi Day.

Here’s where the Pistons come in: They tweeted out a jersey celebrating Pi Day by using π instead of the “pi” in the team’s name: πstons:

It’s a REALLY cool jersey. I want to buy one.

But the problem is that if you say it out loud, it sounds more like “PIE-stons,” because π is pronounced “PIE.”

So there were jokes:

Let’s go Piestons!
