PHUKET - Up to ten large pumps have been installed around municipal Phuket in preparation to deal with the possibility of more flooding after rains inundated several areas earlier on Friday.
Phuket Municipality Office said the industrial pumps had been placed in 10 locations across Muang district of the island province. They were put at the ready to drain floowater around the clock if needed.
The preparation comes as the Meteorological Department issued a storm warning in some areas in the eastern and Andaman regions from Sunday to Thursday. The precipitation is likely to be triggered once a front currently progressing through nortern Laos and Vietnam meets a southerwesternly wind.
Rains already caused temporary flooding on some roads in Muang, Thalang and Katu districts of Phuket on Friday morning.
