'Nasty' crash leaves traffic at a standstill in North Somerset

A collision involving a First Bus caused 'standstill' traffic in North Somerset yesterday (March 23).

The crash took place between Winscombe and Cheddar on Saturday afternoon and was attended by the emergency services.

Pictures from the scene taken by a passing motorist show damage to the side of the 126 bus as well as debris littering the road.

The photos also show traffic piling up on the road due to a car blocking the highway.

According to a post on the Spotted Weston-super-Mare Facebook group: "There has been a nasty accident between Winscombe and Cheddar and I wouldn’t be surprised if the road is at a standstill for a few hours.

"Might want to find another way around if you are heading that way."

First Bus and South Western Ambulance Service have both been contacted for comment.
