Photos of sleeping Tories at conference are what we're all living for today

Tory conference can be a tiring event but you would have thought that on day one members of the party faithful would be able to show a little more enthusiasm.

A number were snapped having a doze and were ignoring the action on the main stage.

On the opening day members were treated to speeches from the Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab and International Trade Secretary Liz Truss.

But these attendees seemed unmoved preferring to get some shut eye rather than listen to Mr Raab criticise Jeremy Corbyn and warn fellow Tories not to put him in Downing Street.

They were also completely oblivious Ms Truss attacking Labour , claiming they want to "surrender" on trade to the EU.

Luckily for those sleepy politicos there remains three days of the Conservative Party in Manchester for them to get their fill of policy announcements, attacks on Labour and positive thinking on Brexit .

Meanwhile away from the main stage Boris Johnson hinted the European Union could veto a further delay to Brexit as he insisted he will get the UK out of the bloc on October 31 with or without a deal.

The Prime Minister, who  main tained his attack on the Benn Act which could force him to seek a delay if a deal has not been approved by October 19, said EU leaders would be reluctant to keep a "truculent" UK in the group.

And another one (Neil Terry/Guzelian)

He refused to be drawn on whether he would ask one of his fellow leaders to veto an extension in order to ensure the October 31 deadline was preserved.

Mr Johnson also ruled out resigning in order to allow someone else to ask for a Brexit delay.

"I've undertaken to lead the party and my country at a difficult time and I'm going to continue to do that," he said.
