A mixture of excitement, nerves and anticipation was in the air across Monklands last week as schools opened their doors for the new term.
For many youngsters it marked their very first day at school with others making the jump to secondary school, acclimatising themselves to new classroom surroundings and teachers or beginning their final year ahead of entering further education or the workplace.
The Advertiser was inundated with fantastic photos of pupils heading off to school by their proud loved ones – and we are delighted to feature a selection of them here.
