Photos from the scene as Glasgow prepares to become Gotham for The Batman movie

Preparations are well under way for the filming of blockbuster movie The Batman this coming weekend in Glasgow.

The area around the Necropolis, Glasgow Cathedral and Tennent's Wellpark Brewery is a hive of activity as things begin to get moving prior to the cameras rolling.

Glasgow Live took a jaunt along to have a wee nosey about, and found that the Necropolis is now closed off to the public with security guards at the entrance next to Glasgow Cathedral and at the junction of Wishart Street and John Knox Street.

Signs noting 'LOC' (short for filming location) for have been placed up on lamposts around the area to guide vehicles into the Wishart Street entrance to the Victorian cemetery.

While we were there we spotted film crew unloading props for the movie out of a film truck, by way of large bins with 'leaves' and 'road trash' written on them, alongside large, iron signs and a decidedly Gotham-looking lampost.

Speaking of the lampost prop, it was carried by a crew member to a location on the Bridge of Sighs which takes Church Lane over Wishart Street into the Necropolis.

Also, a short walk from the Necropolis on Melbourne Street, a car park area has been transformed into the 'base' for the film crew, with movie trailers and dining buses.

We can't wait to see Glasgow's starring role as Gotham on the big screen - although it's a fair bit away yet with The Batman not set for release until June of 2021.
