Photographs show huge blaze after vehicle fire in Lawrence Weston

A huge blaze has broken out near a garage in Lawrence Weston on Wednesday (February 24) night.

Firefighters were called to the scene where they battled the flames following an emergency call.

Photographs from the scene on social media showed a vehicle being ravaged by the fire on Long Cross.

The blaze's orange glow could be seen for miles around.

A spokeswoman for Avon Fire Rescue Service confirmed that they were called to deal with the incident at 8:27pm.

She said: "We were called to a vehicle fire outside of a garage at 8:27pm.

"One crew from Avonmouth attended."

A witness, who wished not to be named, told Bristol Live: "Car fire next to Long cross garage. Looked like everyone was ok."
