Photographs show garage destroyed by early hours fire in Charfield

This photograph shows the charred remains of a garage ravaged by a blaze during the early hours of this morning.

The carcass of a vehicle can be seen surrounded by burnt wooden beams and other pieces of rubble.

A firefighter is pictured damping down the debris after crews extinguished the blaze.

Flames broke out on Woodlands Road, Charfield at around 4:49am today (Thursday).

A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: "Three crews from Thornbury were called  at 04:49hrs to a garage fire on Woodlands Road, Charfield.

"Crews used two 45mm jets, two hose reels, four breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera.

"The cause is thought to be accidental."

And Thornbury fire station tweeted: "Called out last night to garage fire in Charfield. Both our appliances in attendance plus support from Wotton Fire Station. Back visiting this morning checking for any re-ignition and hot spots."
