Photographs show dolphins swimming in Bristol Channel near Portishead

These photographs shows the amazing moment two dolphins were spotted playing in the Bristol Channel near to Portishead.

Residents were quick to grab their cameras when they saw the 'beautiful creatures' jumping and swimming through the waters near to their homes, at around 11am today (February 11).

Portishead has enjoyed a number of exciting marine animals arrive over the past few months, including sightings of porpoises and even a pilot whale.

Helen Lazenby said she was at home when a neighbour called to tell her about the dophins' arrival.

The RNLI press officer said: "My neighbour Marta called me and luckily I had my camera to hand so grabbed it and ran in to the garden.

"We couldn't believe when we saw them. Beautiful creatures and to have them in Portishead is so wonderful.

"The social posts I have put out with the images have been well received and our community love to see them here."
