Photographer Tim Walker's exhibition is 'a love letter' to V&A collection

Fashion photographs hang alongside ancient artefacts in a new V&A show by photographer Tim Walker.

The show was created after Walker was given the freedom of the museum’s 145 galleries and even climbed the roof of the Kensington institution looking for inspiration.

Walker said he thought the museum was “the most inspiring place in the world”.

He said: “Many of the objects that I saw during my research at the museum made my heart swell and I wanted to try to create a photograph that would relate not only to the physical presence and beauty of that object, but also to my emotional reaction to it.

"Each new shoot is a love letter to an object from the V&A collection, and an attempt to capture my encounter with the sublime.”

The exhibition runs from September 21 to March 8.
