Sometimes in the hustle and bustle of daily life it's easy to forget the amazing natural world on our doorstep.
Photographer Steve McKendrick captured these stunning wildlife shots during a break in Arran.
From scratching squirrels to rutting stags, the images give a fascinating insight of animals in their own habitats.
Steve encountered brazen badgers not in the slightest bit phased by his presence and even a cheeky seal who had the audacity to stick his tongue out at the snapper.
