Photo shows the moment raging fire rips through house in Horsforth

The devastating picture above shows the moment that a house went up in flames, completely gutting the terraced property in Horsforth.

Crews rushed to the scene on Broadway, Horsforth, after West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service (WYFRS) received a call about a house fire shortly before 11.30am.

More than a dozen firefighters arrived within minutes - but the blaze had already spread throughout the entire property.

Emma Caiger lives on Featherbank Grove, opposite the scene, and ran outside when she saw the smoke.

"I looked out of the window and just saw smoke," she told LeedsLive.

"By the time I came outside, the fire had started coming through the front windows.

"I ran across the street. It went from grey smoke to black smoke and flames within about 10 seconds. It was really, really scary.

"I've not seen a fire like that ever. The sound of glass shattering was quite scary.

"It started out as nothing and then all of sudden the whole front window was in flames."

A spokesperson for WYFRS confirmed that three crews and an aerial appliance attended the incident and no one was injured.

The roof of the house collapsed in, the window frames warped due to the heat and the walls inside the house were completely charred in the fire.

There were long delays as police partially closed the Broadway throughout the incident, although the road has now fully reopened.
