Photo shows embarrassing moment lorry gets stuck under bridge on Elland Road

If you thought your Monday morning was bad, then spare a thought for this lorry driver who saw his trailer become wedged underneath a bridge in Leeds.

The incident happened at around 10:15am this morning a stone's throw from Leeds United's Elland Road stadium and caused long delays for traffic on the A643.

As the picture shows, the front cabin of the truck easily sailed under the 4.7 metre height restriction - but the trailer unit scraped along the bottom of the railway bridge.

The rather embarrassed driver no doubt had a rather awkward conversation with the recovery teams to explain the situation, which happened just a few yards from the West Yorkshire Police station on Elland Road.

The wagon was soon cleared and traffic resumed to normal on the road. Whether this driver will be in a job come tomorrow, we're not sure!
