Photo of missing Scot Alice Byrne's distinctive wrist tattoo released in bid to find her

A new photo has been released of missing Scot Alice Byrne's distinctive bat tattoo on her right wrist.

It is hoped the new closeup image will help in the search for Alice after she was last seen around 10am on New Year's Day leaving a party on Marlborough Street in Portobello.

The image was posted on a Facebook group set up to try and locate the missing 28-year-old.

Sharing the picture, Andrea Fraser said: "Sharing with the permission of family.

"Some of you will have seen the description and reproduced print of Alice’s distinctive bat tattoo.

"Here is a close up photo of Alice’s actual tattoo.

"It really is distinctive - please continue to share using hashtag #FindAliceByrne"

Alice was last seen by her family around 2am on New Year's Day after attending a Hogmanay beach party in Portobello.

The last known sighting of her was eight hours later when she left a house party.

Extensive searches have been ongoing to try and locate her since as her family described the disappearance as out of character.

Alice is described as being white, around 5ft 6ins in height and of medium build with short black hair.

When she was last seen she was wearing a black top, black jeans and white trainers.

Anyone with information should contact Police on 101 quoting reference 0647 of 2 January.
