'Phone's blowing up' - boxing superstar sparks rumours he's a Nottingham Forest fan

Boxing superstar Carl Frampton has sparked rumours that he is a secret Nottingham Forest fan after being filmed wearing the Reds' kit in a recent interview.

The Irishman was speaking on Boxing Social wearing this season's Forest home shirt.

It was immediately seized upon by Reds fans with one declaring 'Frampton is a red, he hates Derby'.

Frampton has no clear links to Nottingham but the two-weight world champion does like his football.

But many fans saw it as a sign that he would be fighting fellow boxer and Forest fan Leigh Wood, who is the currently commonwealth title holder.

Wood quickly refuted rumours that he would be fighting Frampton but says it would be a great battle.

He Tweeted: "Phone's blowing up.

"People think I'm fighting Frampton next.

"Unfortunately not,  although I think it would be a great fight and  even better to be the first at the famous NFFC City ground. Maybe one day."

Frampton is set for a return to the ring in August, but he would not be the first boxing star to love the Reds.

Four-time world champion Carl Froch and his brother Lee, are also huge Forest fans.
