Phone linked to Queensland stabbing death

A smartphone could be the key to solving the stabbing death of a man on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. (AAP)

A smartphone and a brown jacket may hold the key to solving a stabbing death on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.

A 32-year-old Weyba Downs man was found stabbed to death outside a Nambour unit complex about 11.30pm on Tuesday.

Another man, 42, was charged with murder and appeared in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

A black smartphone was found on Thursday afternoon, however detectives are still seeking more evidence in the case.

Police are looking for a Samsung Galaxy S9 and a brown tartan fleece-lined jacket that may have been ditched in the Nambour-Bli Bli area.

It is unclear whether detectives have found the alleged murder weapon, believed to be knife.

Any witnesses or anyone with any information about the case is being urged to contact police.

"Police believe the two items may be able to assist with ongoing investigations into the matter and anyone who may have further information is urged to come forward," they said in a statement on Friday.
