
Agents swiftly adapted auctions last week to online and phone bidding after the Hunter region was plunged into lockdown due to a coronavirus outbreak in the area.
And the results appeared largely unaffected with a number of strong sales coming under the hammer.
Matt Barnes, of Richardson & Wrench, said location provided plenty of the appeal for two properties they sold through online auctions last Sunday.
There were eight registered bidders for a three-bedroom home on a 199.9 square metre block at 66 Bishopsgate Street in Wickham that was marketed with a guide a $690,000 and sold for $865,000.
A two-bedroom apartment at 5/22 Milford Street, Islington attracted 10 online bidders. It was marketed with a guide of $625,000 to $675,000 and sold for $775,000.

Ray White Newcastle and Lake Macquarie's Teresa Heighington reported 10 phone bidders on Saturday for a four-bedroom house at 16 Bickton Close, Dudley that sold for $1.25 million after a "very active" auction.

Robinson Property's Tony Reville described the $1.16 million online auction sale of 174 Kings Road, New Lambton last Saturday as "a fantastic result". It featured two dwellings and was marketed with a guide of $850,000.

Belle Property Lake Macquarie expect up to 20 registered bidders for a "lifestyle" property at 46 Reservoir Road, Glendale headed to auction on Saturday at 10.30am with a guide of $875,000.
It has a three-bedroom home on around two acres of land.
