Canberra is rising in support of Cobargo and bushfire relief for the region.

At Saturday's Craft Beer Festival in Merimbula, the Capital Brewing Company previewed a unique new creation, "Phoenix Rising".

The refreshing Session IPA has been created using a touch of Manuka honey and fruit highlights, with proceeds from sales to be donated to the Cobargo bushfire recovery fund.

The beer will also be the focus of the Phoenix Rising event at the Fyshwick brewery on March 28. Enjoy a huge festival of local bands, gourmet food and specialty brews. Entry is free, but donations at the door will head to the Cobargo fund as well.

Serving samples in the sunshine at Club Sapphire on Saturday, Hilary said several Capital Brewing staff members had relatives in the Cobargo region, with some of them losing their homes and property in the New Year's fires.

The company has also been a regular at the Cobargo Folk Festival, so is keen "to help the community get back on its feet".
