Phoebe Waller-Bridge says she's ‘tweaked’ James Bond script to 'add spice'

Phoebe Waller-Bridge has discussed her work on the James Bond script – saying she “just tweaked” a few things to add some "little spices."

The Emmy award-winning writer, 34, described how the producers had already begun to change the film’s culture before they brought her on board.

She told the BBC: “They were already doing that themselves.

"They're having that conversation with themselves the whole time. It (her involvement) was much more practical. Just, 'You're a writer, we need some help with these scenes. And you come up with some dialogue for these characters'."

She added: “They were just looking for tweaks across a few of the characters and a few of the storylines.”

Waller-Bridge added that she was approached by Barbara Broccoli to work on the film after the producer and James Bond actor Daniel Craig had been “talking about it for a while.”

Discussing her work for the film, she said: “It doesn't get cooler."

Next month Waller-Bridge will be speaking at the Southbank Centre about her book, Fleabag: The Scriptures.

The book includes new writing from Waller-Bridge alongside the scripts and never-before-seen stage directions from the series.

The talk is hosted by Deborah Frances-White, a comedian and writer known for her podcast, The Guilty Feminist.
