The actress and producer – who was responsible for the iconic outfits featured on Jodie Comer’s character, Villanelle, in Killing Evetold Vogue magazine: “I maintain the right to leave the house looking like s***, in my pyjamas.

“I find dressing really stressful, just that decision every day,” she continued. “You want to just Steve Jobs it.” (Apple co-founder Jobs was known for his uniform of black roll neck jumpers).

Waller-Bridge’s sartorial influence on screen was so strong that last season, fashion brand Max Mara sent models down the runway wearing Villanelle-esque tulle dresses.

The 34-year-old, known for creating the hit series Fleabag, said: “When you land on an outfit you love, there’s no greater feeling.”

Her current favourite outfit is a navy velvet suit by London-based designer Bella Freud.

In the new interview, Waller-Bridge also spoke about her thoughts on having children. She said: “I guess I’ve become quite a see-what-life-throws-at-you kind of person. I think I would like to. I love hanging out with kids - you know, good ones.”

Waller-Bridge was married for three years to filmmaker Conor Woodman before they divorced in 2017.

Describing experiencing great success as an English person, she said her reaction is to have “one too many” gin and tonics and have your friends “take the piss out of you”.
