There were 35,831 phishing attacks launched around the world in June, according to RSA Security's latest report (PDF). The general outlook seems positive; after peaking at almost 60,000 attacks in July 2012, the total has steadily fallen to a 31% decline year-on-year.
Banks and financial institutions, as the main target, will need to be more vigilant against attack. In the past year 76% of the total phishing volume was directed at nationwide banks as cyber criminals seek to capture valuable customer and financial data.
