Philly's Edinburgh restaurant launches insane burger eating challenge with 25 ounces of meat

Think you've got a serious appetite or do you know someone that does? Well, one restaurant in Edinburgh is looking for contenders to take on its brand new burger challenge.

Philly's Edinburgh shared the news on Facebook with an insane photo of the enormous burger stack that you have to wash down with a full creamy milkshake to complete.

And don't think for a second that you can slowly graze your way through the mountain of food - you've got just 45 minutes to plough through the pile.

Edinburgh Live spoke to head chef and official challenge setter Hugh Campbell at Philly's to find out what the challenge entails.

Hugh said: "The challenge isn't just a normal burger. It's a 250g cob loaf packed with 5 four ounce beef patties, 12 ounces pf Philadelphia cheese steak, six rashers of bacon, a cajun chicken burger, eight slices of cheese, a big handful of rocket, salsa, guacamole, sriracha mayo and bbq sauce.

"And that's not all - you've also got to work your way through a jumbo portion of fries, a bowl of coleslaw, eight onion rings and wash it all down with a creamy chocolately milkshake."

The restaurant has had no successful contenders as of yet. It costs £25 to give the challenge a go but if you complete it, you get it for free - and win a whole lot of bragging rights.
