Phillip Schofield tipped to take over The Chase from host Bradley Walsh in ITV shake-up

Phillip Schofield is predicted to be the new face of The Chase.

The 58-year-old ITV favourite - who already hosts This Morning, The Cube, Five Gold Rings and Dancing on Ice - is tipped to be the new host after the TV channel announced its new spin-off show The Chase EXTRA.

The latest edition of the gaming series will see the Chasers - Mark ‘The Beast Labbett’, Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty, Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha, Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan, Shaun ‘The Dark Destroyer’ Wallace and Darragh ‘The Menace’ Ennis - become quizmasters, and viewers are the players and the show will not feature a host.

When the news broke of the revamp - that will air on the ITV hub - bookies offered predictions as to if Bradley Walsh, 60, is leaving the much-loved series - despite him not hinting that he is departing - and if he will be replaced by Phillip.

Betting giant Paddy Power has slashed its odds of Bradley leaving The Chase to 10/11, according to The Sun.

The betting company also tips silver fox Phil as the favourite to replace Bradley.

The daytime TV personality has odds of 4/1 but he is not the only host on the list to front the show - if Bradley were to quit - as Dermot O'Leary sits at 6/1 and I'm A Celeb's Shane Ritchie at 8/1.

A Paddy Power spokesperson told the publication: "Bradley Walsh is such a major part of The Chase that it’s hard to imagine the show without him.

"I mean, who else is going to break down laughing at questions including names like Fanny Chmelar and Dick Tingeler?

Bookies predict that if current host Bradley Walsh left he is likely to be replaced by Phillip (ITV)

“With ITV bosses making moves to run a spin-off show without Brad, it seems that it’s not just the contestants who are now ‘one step closer to home’.”

The Mirror has approached a representative for Bradley for comment.

The Chaser will each present an episode of The Chase Extra.

As well as quiz questions, the beloved brainiacs will include their own unique interval - including telling jokes, giving quiz tips or playing a musical instrument.
