Phillip Schofield tells off Davina McCall for using banned word on This Morning

Phillip Schofield told off his new co-host today after she slipped up and used a 'banned' word.

Davina McCall joined Phillip on Thursday's This Morning as Holly Willoughby remained off air for a second day much to fans concern.

It's not the first time Davina has stepped in so she's not a complete newbie.

But that didn't stop her avoiding a slip-up which lead to Phillip giving her an on-air reminder - not long after he asked her to 'not patronise' him when an icing challenge became a bit tense.

So what's the banned word we hear you ask?

Well, during the show's fashion segment Phillip scolded Davina when she used the word "cheap".

Davina, 53, said she loved Gok Wan's selection of a £26 pair of boots before praising them for their pocket-friendly price.

She said: "I love the boots, I like all the really cheap shoes – it's so good!"

Phil quickly leaned over to correct his co-host, telling her: "Budget, budget. Never cheap, never cheap."

Gok then added: "Affordable!"

Things had already become awkward over a gingerbread house (ITV)

Davina quickly apologised for her accidental mistake, asking: "We're not allowed to say cheap? Sorry, I don't know the words – I'm just happy they're under £30!"

Earlier in the show the pair were joined by chef Phil Vickery with Davina and Phil tasked with decorating gingerbread houses with icing sugar and sweets.

Chef Phil was quick to praise Davina's house, commenting: "You are looking fantastic, look at that!"

Davina then asked to see co-host Phil's house and exclaimed: "Oh that's lovely! That's actually quite classy! You look quite proud of yourself."

Her co-star replied: "It's quite simple... don't patronise me!" followed by an awkward silence which chef Phil managed to end with an "Oh dear".
