Meghan Markle told to ‘shut up’ by angry Philip Schofield on This Morning

Phillip Schofield responded to US breakfast show host Gayle King's revelations that the Royal Family's conversations with Meghan and Harry were 'unproductive', by suggesting it was time for Meghan to 'shut up'.

Phillip and co host Holly Willoughby were talking to Gyles Brandreth and Beverly Turner about headlines over the couple’s conversations with the Royal Family - which were shared by tv host Gayle.

Gale had told her viewers on CBS: "I’m not trying to break news, but I did actually call them to see how they were feeling and it’s true Harry has talked to his brother and he has talked to his father too.

"The word I was given was that those conversations were not productive but they are glad that they have at least started a conversation."

She added: And I think what is still upsetting to them is that the palace keeps saying they want to work it out privately, but yet they believe these false stories are coming out that are very disparaging against Meghan still – no one in the royal family has talked to Meghan yet."

Following the clip Phillip didn't hold back as he appeared to slamthe couple’s decision to speak out about private affairs,

He said: "The thing is there’s been an enormous amount of sympathy over the race issue, the mental health issue, but looking at the polls that are being done at the moment, that sympathy seems to be ebbing away quite quickly.

"There is this feeling that you’ve made your point, essentially shut up now and get on with your quiet American life."

"You stabbed a knife to the heart of the monarch of which there were some things they felt needed to be highlighted fair enough but stop now."

Gyles told Phil: "Miss King is clearly Meghan’s new megaphone. Far from quietly solving problems behind the closed doors within the family, picking up the phone and talking privately.

"You can’t risk talking privately because Meghan wants to spread the world. This will go on and on and on until we are little old people even you Phil, even you Holly. You’ll be elderly folk and this drama will still be playing out before our eyes."

Phillip said: “Bev, there you go. Either that is the most indiscrete friend on the planet or she has been told by them that she can go on American TV and brief against the Royal Family and the British press once more."

Bev replied: "I suspect it’s the latter Phil. Meghan Markle has a record of doing this of talking to friends. We saw in the interview one of her big drivers, ‘I want everyone to say nice things about me all the time.’ That was her main complaint to the Royal Family when she talks about, ‘I want you to protect me.’

Viewers had mixed responses to Phillip's comments. One said: "I have to agree with Phil on this one #Meghan Philip Schofield suggests Harry and Meghan have 'made their point'"

Another added: "Yes Phil spot on about Meghan #ThisMorning."

And another said: "when even Phillip Schofield has had enough of Meghan and Harry you know it's bad."

But others defended: "Who is Phillip Schofield to tell Meghan what to do? She's not in England anymore! If you leak! They will speak!"

And another said: "Wish he would shut up. #Hypocrite "
