Phillip Schofield was asked 'are you jealous?' after taking a jokey swipe at new judge John Barrowman as he arrived on Dancing On Ice.
Actor and singer John made his DOI debut on the Christmas special with new grey locks.
When co-host Holly Willoughby commented that Phillip, who has for a long time held the 'silver fox' moniker, had competition, he hit back that John resembled a badger.
"Listen you've got competition for the silver fox this year," said Holly.
"I know, he's rocking it," said Phillip.
"It looks like a badger though," he added, and John opened his mouth in mock amazement.
"But a hot one," Holly corrected.
"Schofe are you jealous or threatened by @JohnBarrowman?" asked a Dancing On Ice viewer on Twitter.
"#HotBadger" defended another.
But another viewer championed Phillip, saying: "There deffo is only one silver fox - @Schofe is looking totally lush on #DancingOnIce - he is the best!"
DOI viewers have applauded the addition of former I'm A Celebrity contestant John to the Dancing On Ice judging panel, replacing Jason Gardiner.
"Can't believe John Barrowman is a judge on Dancing On Ice, I love him," said one.
"Damn it might have to watch Dancing On Ice now John Barrowman's on it," said another.
