Phillip Schofield stopped This Morning to confess to a blunder he had made earlier on.

The presenter, 58, returned to the ITV daytime show with co-star Holly Willoughby, 39, for the first time in two months.

But Phil unfortunately suffered a bit of a blunder while they were preparing a crab dish while guided by chef James Martin.

After the ad break, Holly asked Phil: "Are you alright? I mean..."

Phil turned to viewers and shrugged: "I have to fess up. There's nothing I can do, I can't get changed. I've got to do the rest of the show like this."

Gesturing to his wine-coloured shirt, he said: "The crab has splattered my shirt. I'm covered all over!"

Holly exclaimed: "You had a gigantic bib on!"

"Only to eat it," he insisted. "Not to cook it."

"Oh, is that cooking splatter?" she asked.

Phil replied: "It's cooking spit."
